Cross trainers are often referred to as elliptical cross trainers. Keeping your feet on the pedals, stride forward and your feet will move in an elliptical motion. Speed up to create an intensive running motion, slow down for a walking fitness workout. As well as the speed you can increase the difficulty through increasing resistance levels, much like increasing the gears on a bike. Combined with using your arm muscles to push the handles backwards and forwards you'll achieve a fantastic low impact, total body workout. Find out more about cross trainer benefits here.
